Found in forests, mountains and heathland across the country, they spend much of their time creating intricate underground burrows - carefully constructed homes that offer safety and shelter beneath the earth.
Wombats symbolise resilience, grounded strength and steady determination - a reminder to build strong foundations and move through life with quiet confidence.
They are also respected in Indigenous cultures as symbols of wisdom, survival and deep connection to the land.
