The Quokka, with its round face and gentle “smiling” expression, has become one of Australia’s most beloved and endearing native animals.
Found mainly on Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia, as well as a few small areas of the mainland, Quokkas inhabit coastal scrub, woodlands and shrub lands where they forage for grasses and leaves.
These small marsupials are most active in the cooler parts of the day and are known for their curious and calm nature, often hopping quietly through vegetation in search of food.
Quokkas symbolise joy, contentment and appreciation for life’s simple moments, reflecting the relaxed and peaceful presence they seem to carry.
When the Quokka appears, it can be seen as a gentle reminder to find happiness in the present moment, approach life with openness, and allow ourselves to smile more often.
