The Australian Pelican, with its distinctive long bill, striking black-and-white plumage and impressive wingspan, is one of Australia’s most recognisable and much-loved waterbirds.
Found across much of Australia, particularly around coastal areas, lakes, rivers and wetlands, Australian Pelicans are often seen gliding effortlessly across the water, soaring overhead or gathering in groups along the shoreline.
Pelicans symbolise generosity, abundance and community, reflecting their social nature and their remarkable ability to adapt and thrive wherever food and water are plentiful.
When the Pelican appears, it can be seen as a gentle reminder to go with the flow, trust that there is enough, and stay connected to the people and places that support us.
