The Superb Fairy Wren with its striking plumage and fascinating behaviour is a testament to the beauty and complexity of Australia's natural birdlife.
They're very talkative. They use a wide range of high-pitched trills, tweets and cheeps. They even have a special 'predator call' to warn others and a 'sexy song' males sings to potential mates!
Fairy wrens are almost always seen with their tails cocked upright - it's part of their signature silhouette.
These birds are shy and prefer staying low to the ground, darting through thick vegetation. So if you want to spot one, look in bushy gardens and undergrowth.
We loved drawing this Fairy Wren for you.
