The Australian White Ibis, with its long curved bill and striking white plumage contrasted by glossy black wings, is one of Australia’s most recognisable and adaptable native birds.
Found across much of eastern and northern Australia, Ibises inhabit wetlands, floodplains and river systems, though they have also become a familiar sight in many urban parks and waterways.
These intelligent birds use their long curved bills to probe mud and soil in search of insects, crustaceans and small creatures, demonstrating remarkable adaptability as they move between natural and urban environments.
Ibises symbolise resilience, resourcefulness and adaptability, reflecting their ability to thrive and adjust as environments change.
When the Ibis appears, it can be seen as a gentle reminder to remain flexible, make the most of opportunities around us, and trust in our ability to adapt and flourish wherever life takes us.
